The Covid-19 pandemic has forced students to have their classes at home to prevent the spread of the virus. This strategy, although it has a very good purpose, has not been convenient for all students, since some do not have the necessary means at home to continue with online classes.
This is the case of two little girls in Salinas, California, who were seen outside a Taco Bell restaurant while doing homework taking advantage of the establishment’s free internet.
Their story went viral
The user Ms_Mamie89 was the one who shared the story from his Instagram account, and in a very short time, it went viral.
These two girls were looking for a place with WiFi to do their homework, so they sat near Taco Bell to connect to the free WiFi.
So much was the impact of photography that a solidarity campaign was started on GoFundMe to raise funds. Family history is very delicate, since Mrs Juana, the girls’ mother, was about to be evicted and had no money to pay rent or food.
They received a lot of support
Thanks to this campaign, in a short time, they were able to raise more than 115 thousand dollars, money that will help them return home. They also received donations of food, clothing and mattresses.
Everything will get better
The family moved to a hotel while their housing problem is resolved.
The Salinas City School District has provided them with an access point so that girls can safely enter the virtual classroom.
