Joker movie, becoming the biggest grossing R-rated film of all time. A lot has happened since Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips introduced the globe to a new take on The Clown Prince of Crime. Before the film even hit cinemas, it did not seem like it was going to fare too well. The debate over the fear of real-life violence took over the discussion, which led to intense police appearance when the film started in theaters, and in one case, cinemas getting closed completely. However, the praise for the film was able to outweigh the bad press, and it’s now a box office victory.
2018’s Deadpool 2 earlier held the box office record for the highest R-rated film of all time, but those days are ended. Todd Phillips’ Joker movie is expected to pass the $800 million this weekend. Ryan Reynolds chose to take part in the old Hollywood culture of congratulating another film for breaking your box office record on social media.
Joker filmmaker Todd Phillips looked to be surprised that the film was able to pull off the box office feat. Todd Phillips and the studio took a big gamble with the film, and it has paid off more than anyone thought it would. Todd Phillips had this to tell in response to Joker Movie becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
“Wow!! Thanks to my wonderful cast & crew and of course, the fans from around the world- for seeing through all the ‘noise’ and SHOWING UP (some more than once)! We are super proud of the film, and all your wonderful messages make it that much more special. Joker worldwide.”
