Keanu Reeves join the Fast & Furious film series sooner or later, as longtime writer Chris Morgan says he’s had conversations with the actor about bringing him into the movie. Earlier, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed Keanu Reeves almost had a character in the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, but while that possibility did not work out, Morgan remains confident they will eventually be able to add the beloved actor into the franchise in someplace.
In a recent interview, Morgan admits he’s had conversations with Keanu Reeves pertaining to his possible involvement in the new series. Here’s how Morgan describes it.-
“I sat down with him and we’re talking about. I wanted him to be in the Fast universe for a very long time. We’re just trying to find… the hardest thing is always time and competing schedules and then designing the right thing together. My fervent desire is to bring him into this franchise for sure.”-
According to Johnson, new plans for Hobbs & Shaw called for Reeves to perform the mysterious director of the techno-terrorist organization Eteon. The concept was for the role to have a much more significant presence in the film, but as Johnson describes, this remarkable idea “just did not feel right creatively” for Keanu Reeves. The judgment was then made to keep the role off-screen, only talking out as a faceless noise with his or her identification remaining a total mystery. This has led to thinking as to who this person is, but as it turns out, the logic for keeping it a secret had more to do with challenges in finding the right character for the part.
In part because of his rumored appearance in Hobbs & Shaw that did not pan out, there has already been thinking to go around that Reeves could perform in the Fast & Furious 9 when it is released in theaters next year. It’s not outside of the realm of chances, as his part in the animated sequel Toy Story 4 shows he is open to jumping into other successful, long-running franchises so long as the character is right. A famous musicians Ozuna and Cardi B were recently announced as the role of the cast. They will be joining Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Vin Diesel, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren, John Cena, Charlize Theron, and Michael Rooker.
Fast & Furious 9 movie was released on May 22, 2020.
